About the Campaign

Gato has a badly torn ACL and can barely walk!

Tania got her back in 2020, at the height of the COVID lockdowns. She was looking for a dog to adopt, and had been to the shelters, but at that time they were all empty! Then Tania saw a post online. A lady had found a starving, stray Husky, but couldn’t keep her. It turned out to be one of those perfect matches!

Gato was trainable but also a sweet and affectionate dog. Tania as a chronic condition that causes her muscle pain, and difficulty moving, especially standing and steadying herself, and Gato helps with this. Gato also works as an emotional support animal for her. Tania has an Instagram page for her business selling wood and leather crafts, and you can see how much she loves Gato and all her Gato tattoos HERE!

Last year we did a fundraiser for Gato, who need to have both eyes removed (Gato was already blind, but the pressure in the eyes was getting worse and was very painful).  You can see that HERE.

Gato recovered from that surgery and has been doing great. However, last month she was running in a field, she had the “zoomies”, and made a fast and excited turn and twisted her knee. Probably she already had weak knees and was prone to this injury, but in any case, she tore her ACL very badly. In dogs this will not heal without surgery, and will only get worse for her. It is a very bad injury.

Tania has her on pain meds, with those she can walk, though stiffly (you can see in the video above). To keep her injury from getting worse she is no longer allowed to run or jump or do anything fun! Tania has gotten her a lot of puzzle and treat games to keep her occupied, and gives her lots of attention, but still… it is no life for such a happy and useful dog!

Gato’s surgery is expensive, and Tania cannot afford all of this on her own. All donations are specifically for Gato and are paid ONLY to the veterinarian when the procedure for Gato is done. Please donate in confidence, you are helping Gato!

Gato is an amazing soul and deserves a happy healthy life to enjoy with an amazing woodworker and artist by her side.

I pray for you and your fur baby. I also have fibromyalgia and I understand how difficult the pain can be, and things could be more painful physically/mentally/ emotionally when your fur baby is not well. God bless you. When I have more to offer, I will donate more.
