About the Campaign
Nasal cancer,
in remission!
Gambit is a sweet kitty, rescued as a stray 10 years ago. He was semi-feral at that time, but his rescuer Melissa worked with him and he has become a fabulous little house kitty with his sister Rouge.
Rogue and Gambit together
In May he started to get a stuff nose. The doctor thought it was a cold, and gave him some medications and sent Gambit home. But after a few weeks he wasn’t better, he was worse. So he went back to the doctor, and again was treated for a cold. Well after that Gambit’s head started to swell up.
The swelling bulged through:
Later there was blood in his nose as well. Melissa decided to take him to a different vet, and it was fortunate she did. This time the doctor diagnosed Gambit as probably having some type of cancer. He had a CT-scan, and biopsies. A lot of expensive testing. In the end, the diagnosis was B-cell lymphoma in the nasal cavity.
The doctor says this type of lymphoma is well treated with chemotherapy, and Gambit has already started a course with two treatments completed. And, he is doing very well! The swelling in his nose is completely down and the doctor says he is in remission!
Gambit’s improvement so far!
Melissa spent over $8000 on him already, much of it on credit. Though she works part-time, she is on limited income from disability, Melissa has PTSD and anxiety disorder, she was in New York City during 9/11. With her fixed income she cannot cover all of the cost of the chemotherapy no matter how much she saves, so Gambit needs donations to fully treat his cancer and have the best chance!
