Vet Care and Dental Work

Furbie is an 18-year-old senior cat who’s starting to struggle. She’s lost weight, isn’t grooming anymore, and her breath smells awful—classic signs of dental disease. She needs to see the vet as soon as possible for blood work, a full check-up, and likely some serious dental work to ease her discomfort and help her eat again.

Her caretaker, Christy, has been doing everything she can for Furbie and the rest of her feline family. Furbie is one of the original 14 cats left behind when Christy’s longtime pet sitting client passed away five years ago. The client had been sick with brain cancer and made it clear that she wanted the cats to be safe in the home they’d always known. But after her death, the trustee refused and planned to sell the house.

So Christy stepped in. She found a house to rent just for the cats and moved them all in—choosing their well-being over her own comfort. Furbie has been with her ever since. Today, she still lives separately and visits the cats daily. Their rent is actually more than what Christy pays for her own home.

A former vet tech who now works as a pet sitter and dog walker, Christy devotes everything to these cats. But between rising costs, food bills, and rent for two households, she’s hit a financial wall. She applied for Care Credit to help Furbie—declined. Now she’s reaching out for help.
