About the Campaign

Such a great story!

Little Fievel was born in an animal shelter. A rescue group took his mom and all the puppies in, but Fievel had a very bad cleft palate (the top of the mouth is split) and when dogs have this they cannot nurse on their mother. He was going to die.

So Michele took him in, and hand fed him by bottle until he got big enough to have surgery. And the poor guy had to have four, FOUR, procedures to get it fixed, because it was bad. So why is this a “great story”? Because he did get fixed!! It was a long hard process, but Michele got him through it and he grew up, a little goofy looking, to be a happy and healthy dog:

Living that good life!

Fievel is now 3.5 years old. He has been doing great for the last years, but recently has started yelping in pain when his mouth is touched, even when he touches it himself with his paws. Michelle took him to the doctor, and he has some decaying dental tissue. He needs minor dental surgery, and the removal of a few teeth. Probably some of his teeth had exposed or pressed nerves.

It’s not a big deal, but it will be over $1000. Michelle has arranged some grants from the Humane Society and from the Ozzie Foundation, but she still needs the remaining amount. And little Fievel is in pain, so we really want to get it done soon.

Back when he was a baby and had his cleft-palate surgery Michele managed to put in over $3000 herself, and also got a fantastic discount from the veterinarian. But she doesn’t have that kind of money now. Michele does social work at minimum wage, and with prices now has been struggling to save any money. Now, she raised this little guy up, bottle feeding him and tube feeding him after his surgery, and she has arranged these grants. She is dedicated to caring for Fievel and doing all she can!

So let’s help out and get this pup over the top, and fully funded!! We hold all the donations, and pay them only to the vet, so you can donate in confidence. It’s not a huge amount of money, so every donation helps out, a fiver or a ten-spot would be fantastic! So get in there and get yourself a the great big good feeling of helping out a little dog 🙂
