About the Campaign
Felix, a 7-year-old Bombay cat with diabetes, needs a crucial checkup in the next two weeks—and his owner, Alaura, has no way to pay the $519 bill.
Alaura first noticed something was wrong back in April when Felix started drinking a lot of water and peeing constantly. The vet found glucose in his urine and diagnosed diabetes. Since then, Felix has been on insulin and a strict diet. He hates his shots and used to run away and hide, but with a lot of patience and treats, he’s learned to accept them—though he’s still pretty mad about the diet 😀
Felix’s story with Alaura started in 2018, when she found a post online from a woman whose dog wouldn’t leave a little black cat alone in her backyard. He was just a baby—too big for milk, too small to be on his own. They met up, and Felix went home with Alaura that day. She had always considered herself more of a dog person until she lost her childhood cat, but Felix changed everything. He’s now legally her emotional support animal and a constant source of comfort.
Today, they live in income-based housing, and Alaura is a single mother raising her 14-year-old son, Grady. She works part-time at a grocery store, and diabetic supplies for Felix already stretch her budget to the limit. She has applied for Care Credit twice and been denied both times. There is simply no extra money left for this essential recheck.
Your donation will help cover Felix’s $519 diabetic recheck—his blood tests, urinalysis, and follow-up care—so his diabetes can stay under control and he can keep being the steady, loving presence Alaura and Grady rely on. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian. Estimate below (click to enlarge):
