About the Campaign

Mr. Elvis needs surgery urgently.

He is in pain, and his infection is life-threatening.

Elvis went in for a dental cleaning about a year ago, and had a dental infection. It was treated with antibiotics and got better for a time. Then in November Elvis stopped eating and even drinking, and was drooling. This can be a bad sign, indicating many problems, and his mom Dottie took him to the vet right away. He had the infection again, but worse.

They tried the antibiotic treatment again, but on his follow up after doing the course of antibiotics, the doctor said it was clear: Elvis needs comprehensive dental surgery, and soon. His cleft palate has made the problem worse, and is also increasing the risk of the infection spreading and even being deadly.

Dottie got Elvis as a baby. He was going to be put to sleep because of his cleft palate, at least that is what the doctor recommended. You see, with the split in his upper mouth, he could not get suction on his mother’s teat, which means he could not get milk. But Dottie saved him, bottle feeding him three hours a day, every day for 8 weeks.

Since then Elvis has been a happy and healthy doggo, until last year when these infections started. Dottie is on SSDI (disability) and that is a small fixed income. She has a number of conditions, included multiple herniated discs and chronic pain. She has spent most of her available money on Elvis’s recent multiple vet visits, and just does not have the money for this dental surgery.

As with all our campaigns for dog’s like Elvis, we hold the donations and only pay the vet clinic when the surgery is performed. You can be confident that if you want to help Elvis, you donation will go to Elvis! Let’s get this sweet little guy out of pain and back to his goofy normal self, please donate to Elvis today.

I pray that you can find a more compassionate vet who will treat this poor baby immediately to get him out of his miserable pain, then you can make payments to the vet. All doctors, including vets, make enough money that if they have a hardship case, even once a week, they should step up and help. My husband is a Chiropractor and he’s had plenty of hardship cases come into our office. He would NEVER allow a person to suffer intense pain because of their inability to pay immediately. I seem to be donating just as often to animal situations as I do to help people in need. Very sad. Please keep us posted on your sweet boy’s situation.

All donations help! And all are appreciated. Only about 5% of people who read a campaign page actually donate, so thank you for being one of those people 🙂

This donation is from a small foundation called God of the Sparrows, based in Ann Arbor and run by 3 animal-loving friends. We hope you and Elvis have a long and happy life together. When is his surgery scheduled for?
