About the Campaign

A badly broken leg,

and her owners just drove away.

We are calling her Ella, but that’s not her name. She is brought into a vet east of Los Angeles, California. Her leg is broken. She is screaming, the vet rushes her in the back, and gets her stabilized. Then they come out front to talk to the owners.

“What took so long? We have to go.”

“Well, your dog has a compound fracture in her leg. It’s pretty bad, and will require orthopedic surgery, I can tell that already. We have her stable and she is medicated and calmed down. I need to do x-rays, and….”

“How much?”

“It is going to be expensive. Something like this will be over $3000, maybe more….  we can stabilize her here and you can take….”

“What? We are not paying that! We are renovating our house right now, we aren’t spending that much money!!”

…And yes, that is the conversation that happened. And then they left. Walked out to their car, and drove off. Fortunately this vet (who has asked not to be mentioned), continued to care for Ella, and took x-rays. Then called Faith Easdale of Dream Fetchers Rescue for help. The vet had done what they were going to do. They would not do the surgery. Ella had to leave, either to the shelter or be put-to-sleep. And the shelter will not treat this injury, she’d almost certainly be put-to-sleep there as well.

So Faith drove to get her, and got her in with an orthopedist, and now Ella will have surgery to fix her leg. The price tag? $3500.00. So Faith and the rescue need everyone’s help. Ella needs everyone’s help. She can’t count on her owners. They’re gone. We don’t even know who they are, and we don’t care to know. What we want is to fix Ella’s leg, and then find her a new family. Want to be part of that for Ella? Please, consider a donation. All donations are 100% paid to the 501c3 non-profit rescue to help her. Surgery is this week. Has to happen ASAP! Thank you 🙂
