About the Campaign
This sweet family guy has a swollen spleen. Much like an appendicitis, the danger here is that it ruptures, filling the body with an overwhelming infection that kills Duke. But, like an appendicitis, all that needs to be done is remove the spleen, and Duke will be able to have a normal, happy life!
Duke started acting a bit strange. A normally active dog that follows his owner D’Lynn around EVERYWHERE, he wasn’t getting up. Then, when she tried to make him stand, he wouldn’t stand long, and as time went on he even started to slump and fall.
D’Lynn got him to the emergency vet, and spent about $1100.00 on x-rays and other tests. At first they thought it was bloat, but it wasn’t. It turned out to be pancreatitis and a swollen spleen. The doctor also thinks it is possible that the pancreatitis is at least partially related to the swollen spleen issue.
The doctor thinks the spleen tumor is probably not cancerous, and there is no sign that any cancer has spread in Duke, so his prognosis is very good, if he can get the surgery.
His family has had him since he was a 8 week old puppy, he is now nine years-old, and D’Lynn and her two sons love Duke very much. Unfortunately, as a lot of moms will understand, D’Lynn was just about tapped-out when she spent $1100 on the ER, and getting the additional $2200.00 for the spleen removal is beyond her budget.

Consult with the Vet
She has a meeting with the vet later this week, and we will also talk with them, and may be able to get the cost lowered a bit (and will adjust the fundraiser appropriately) but for now we have a verbal estimate of $2200.00
X-Rays Showing the Spleen (see the red cross on the x-ray):
All donations are only for Duke and his spleen surgery! We hold the donations and pay them only to the vet, and only for Duke. If Duke does not get surgery, we refund your donation. It is that simple. You are donating to Duke, for his surgery! Thank you and big WOOOOFS!
