Drogon Needs to Fight Tumor Growth

This gentle giant urgently needs a CT scan and surgery—please help Drogon live a long and happy life.

Drogon, a 5-year-old, 130 lb sweet dog, has been Jamie’s loyal companion since she rescued him four years ago. Back then, Jamie was in a tough place, living in a rough neighborhood in San Francisco while caring for family. She wanted a large dog for protection, but when she found Drogon, she realized he needed protection, too. Mistreated and scared, Drogon was taken straight to the vet by Jamie, who promised him a better life—and that’s exactly what she’s given him. Drogon has thrived, becoming the gentle giant she needed and more.

But now Drogon faces a serious medical issue. After surgery last year for a UTI, the vet noticed a lump near his hip. At the time, it didn’t seem like anything to worry about, but in recent months, that lump has grown. After a consultation and further tests, it was diagnosed as spindle cell neoplasia—a type of tumor. Thankfully, it appears localized, but the tumor’s location near Drogon’s hip makes treatment more complex.

To determine the best course of action, Drogon needs a CT scan and a biopsy to assess the tumor and see if it can be surgically removed. Jamie has already spent everything she has on diagnostics, including savings she had set aside for her 17-year-old cat, who recently passed away from hyperthyroidism. Now, she’s facing the reality of needing up to $5,000 for the scan and biopsy, and another $7,000-$10,000 if surgery is possible.

Jamie, who lives on SSI due to POTS, has done everything in her power to raise funds—selling her jewelry, starting a GoFundMe, and even creating TikTok and Instagram accounts for Drogon—but it hasn’t been enough. This dog means the world to her. She can’t have children, and Drogon has been her constant source of comfort and love.
