About the Campaign
Dougie is a 12-year-old male Golden Retriever and Cattle Dog mix who just had surgery for oral malignant melanoma. The tumor was removed, and the good news is that testing so far shows the cancer has not spread. His veterinarian is now recommending the Oncept vaccine to help keep Dougie in remission.
Linda first noticed something was wrong because she brushes Dougie’s teeth and saw a painful bump and thickened area in his mouth. The vet did a biopsy, and it came back as malignant melanoma. Dougie had surgery in March, but the cancer returned in June. He had another biopsy, another surgery, and then the incision opened and had to be sewn shut again.
This was the tumor:
Now Dougie needs the next step in treatment. His doctor believes the Oncept vaccine gives him a very strong chance of staying in remission and having more good time with his family. The cancer is still localized, so this is the moment when follow-up treatment matters most. Below all sewn up now:
Dougie came into Linda’s life through BARK, Buckeye Animal Rescue. Linda was looking for a companion for her dog Mia, and her mother spotted Dougie at a PetSmart adoption event. He was about a year and a half old then, and he has been part of the family ever since.
The cost is the barrier. Linda works at Costco as an office clerk, has two children with one still at home, and is recently separated. She has already spent nearly $3,000 on Dougie’s testing, biopsies, surgeries, and care, and there is only limited credit left available. Dougie is older, but very active and full of life! He got his tumor removed, and now just needs this follow up to keep it from coming back.
He has a real chance if he can get the recommended cancer vaccine now. Donations will help cover the Oncept vaccine, oncology care, follow-up visits, medications, and monitoring so Dougie can stay comfortable and have the best chance at remission. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian.

My dog Jack had the same cancer in his mouth. We had to put him down as it it spread and he was very old. If I can contribute to help, it’s my pleasure to do so.

Yes, that is exactly what this new vaccine prevents. So far the results have been excellent.
