About the Campaign
Dottie is a sweet 3-year-old pittie with a torn CCL, a painful knee injury that is making it hard for her to use her leg. Just last week, she went from acting normal to suddenly refusing to bear weight. Her family got her to the vet within 48 hours, and the diagnosis was clear: Dottie needs surgery within the next 1 to 2 months to stabilize the knee and keep the injury from getting worse.
Her orthopedic surgeon also warned that her right leg is already showing abnormalities, and if the injured leg is not repaired soon, the other side could tear even faster from overcompensating. Right now, Dottie is no longer the adventurous, playful dog she was. She is spending much more time lying down, looking uncomfortable and sad.
Yaileen adopted Dottie nearly three years ago from the SPCA at a huge adoption event. She had been standing in line for about an hour and a half with her little daughter, Aleeah, who had just turned 3, when Dottie came out—and from across the parking lot, she ran straight to Aleeah. That was it. They knew she was meant to come home with them. Later they learned Dottie had already been through a lot, including abuse and surgery on her left leg for two loose kneecaps. But they brought her home and gave her the life she deserved.
Now Yaileen is doing everything she can to help her again, but money is the barrier. She is a single mom, works full-time as a medical assistant, and supports not only her daughter but also her two disabled parents, who live with her and cannot work because of their health issues. She had been working two jobs, but that meant barely seeing her daughter, so she cut back to one. Then last month, she had to use all of her savings on an attorney to help her father. She thought she would be able to start rebuilding—then Dottie got hurt.
At the vet:
On top of that, the household is down to one income and one car, and the bills have only gotten harder since Yaileen’s sister moved out and stopped helping with expenses. The surgery is about $4,600, and it is simply more than Yaileen can manage on her own right now.
Donations will help cover Dottie’s CCL surgery and the care she needs to heal and get back on her feet. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian. Estimate below, click to enlarge:

I lost my 13 year old pit in November. She had arthritis and walking was painful. Meds helped for a while, but became ineffective. I want to help give Dottie a chance to heal

My 8-yr old pittie had to have this surgery last June and it helped her so much. She went from limping in pain back to running around full speed. Wishing Dottie a full recovery.
