Heart Trouble, Fluid in Lungs
Dora is an 11-year-old hound mix whose heart condition has progressed to the point that she now has fluid building up in her lungs and pressure on her heart. Thanks to the success of her previous fundraiser, Dora was able to get in for testing and be evaluated, and her veterinary team has now started her on new medications to help her breathe easier and keep her heart working as safely as possible. But this isn’t a “one-and-done” situation. Dora’s doctors want to see her again in two weeks to check her progress and adjust medications as needed. That follow-up is critical, because heart medication often needs fine-tuning to find the dose that controls symptoms without causing new problems.

After that, Dora will need a more extensive recheck in about two months, including new X-rays and blood tests, so the vet can measure how well the medication plan is working long-term and whether the fluid and heart pressure are improving. This is how Dora’s team prevents a scary spiral into an emergency and keeps her stable at home.

This new fundraiser is to help cover Dora’s upcoming follow-up care: the two-week recheck, and the two-month diagnostics (repeat imaging and lab work) that will guide the next stage of her treatment. Dora’s previous campaign got her to the starting line—now we’re trying to keep her on the right path.
