About the Campaign

Dani is a 9-year-old female French Bulldog who is fighting thyroid cancer and now needs radiation treatment to give her the best chance at a normal life span. Nicole’s oncologist has been clear: Dani has responded well to treatment so far, and with radiation, her prognosis is excellent—but the cost of care is reaching a breaking point.

Nicole first noticed a lump on Dani’s neck in October 2024. At first, it seemed like a swollen lymph node and there was concern for lymphoma. Dani underwent surgery to remove the lump, and Nicole spent about $2,000 on that work-up. The mass came back in March 2025, and this time an oncologist confirmed the diagnosis: thyroid cancer.

Dani after her surgery:

The original plan was radiation and chemotherapy. Nicole chose to start with oral chemotherapy (pills), and for a while it was working well—Dani’s tumor remained stable. But now the veterinary team says radiation is necessary, and there’s another complication: the chemo is beginning to affect Dani’s liver, creating additional health concerns. Nicole has already been spending about $500 per month on chemotherapy alone, not counting exams, monitoring, and supportive medications.

Dani isn’t just Nicole’s dog, she’s been her steady companion for nearly her whole adult life. Nicole got Dani at nine weeks old after seeing her photo online and having her shipped to Alaska. Nicole was looking for emotional support at the time, and Dani became that constant presence through every move and major life change: Los Angeles, Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana, Nashville. Dani has been there through it all.

Have booty, will travel!

Nicole has done everything she can to keep Dani with the same oncology team and give her consistent care. She stopped being a travel nurse so Dani could stay with the same veterinary specialists—a decision that protected Dani’s treatment continuity but also reduced Nicole’s income. Nicole now works as a mobile IV nurse, and the family has only one primary income. Nicole’s husband suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) from an accident and can no longer work the way he used to (he worked construction before). This is why the cost of radiation—on top of what they’ve already paid out of pocket—has become overwhelming.

This fundraiser is to help Dani access the radiation therapy her specialists are recommending, so she can keep her cancer controlled without worsening side effects from ongoing chemo.

Donations will help cover Dani’s radiation treatment and related veterinary care. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian. Thank you for helping Nicole give Dani the best chance at more healthy, comfortable years. Estimate below, click to enlarge:
