About the Campaign
Painful Ear Hematoma
Dallas, an 8-year-old Pitbull with a big heart and even bigger ears, urgently needs surgery. A painful hematoma has developed in her ear—swollen, growing, and now resistant to antibiotics. The vet says it must be drained and the scar tissue removed to stop the pain and prevent long-term damage. The procedure is estimated at $1,500 and needs to be done as soon as possible.
Hematoma in dogs: a blood-filled pocket that develops between the skin and cartilage of the ear flap (pinna). It is often caused by excessive head shaking or scratching due to underlying ear problems like infections, mites, or allergies. This condition is painful for the dog and can lead to a deformed ear if left untreated.
Dallas means everything to her owner, Rosanna. She’s been by her side for eight years—since she was a tiny pup, bottle-fed after her mom rejected the litter. Rosanna chose Dallas because of her playful energy and sweet markings, and named her after her favorite football team. Dallas has been her rock, helping her through dark times as a source of unconditional comfort and companionship.
A few weeks ago, Dallas started acting strangely after a nap—rubbing on the floor and dragging her back. A vet visit revealed an allergic reaction, but also the early signs of a hematoma in her ear. It’s gotten worse since then, likely from shaking her head. She also has painful dental issues—infected gums and damaged teeth—but the ear is the priority right now.
Rosanna is a full-time case manager helping the homeless through Metro. She’s also a single mom to two kids, Desiree (8) and Jayden (14). She’s doing everything she can—working overtime when available, and already spent $500 at the vet this month—but she just doesn’t have the resources to pay for the surgery Dallas needs.
With your help, Dallas can get the hematoma removed and start healing. All donations go directly to her care and are paid only to the treating veterinarian. The fundraiser total is for the hematoma and dental, but if we can get her $1500 she can have the hematoma fixed right away and the dental later.
