About the Campaign

Sick little guy needs

a Cushing’s test and medications

Dakota is a good boy, who now pees in the house, which he did not used to do. He also drinks excessively. Classic signs of Cushing’s Syndrome, an easily treatable condition.

Shelia, his owner, has had him since he was young, and a few years ago his behavior slowly started to changed. Recently she has taken him to a vet, including an ER, and maxed out the Care Credit she managed to get, spending over $2000.

We reviewed her information, and got someone we know who is very experienced with Cushing’s to talk with her as well, and it seems like this is the most likely answer. Dakota needs a Cushing’s test (called a Stim Test) and also needs a Thyroid test. Then he can start medication. It’s a upsetting that the vets used up what money Shelia had available (she is on a fixed income with SSDI), without even getting to the most likely problems, but that is not Dakota’s fault. This little guy is a good dog, and he Cushing’s causes swelling of the liver and kidneys and excessive thirst, it is not his fault.

All donations are for Dakota, and paid only to the vet (a new vet!) and this time for a Cushing’s test! With everyone’s help we are going to make sure Dakota gets properly diagnosed now, and treated!! You can see an estimate below for these tests, though he will be going to a different vet.

I’ve had three dogs with cushings . They do just fine after you get the medicine dose correctly. Hang in there he looks like my little Jack.

Exactly! We have one now that is doing perfect. A little pill everyday, and you’d never know! Totally, and easily, treatable.
