About the Campaign

Swollen mouth, bladder stones!

Oh poor Dahlia! In the animal shelter as a senior, now rescued but she needs a lot of help.

Her paper work shows “stray” but Dahlia’s shelter records show an exact age. She is 15.7 years old, so her owners either surrendered her to the shelter and gave that info, or they were contacted by the shelter after Dahlia arrived there. Meaning, they abandoned her.

The shelter had no medical notes, other than a swollen mouth, but when she got to Soul2Soul Animal Rescue in Oregon, they could tell immediately that her swollen mouth was due to a serious dental infection. You can see how swollen in this picture taken right after she arrived:

Her new foster family also noticed that she “dribbled pee”, and at her vet check up the doctor confirmed she has multiple bladder stones. This might be part of why her owners abandoned her, she started dribbling pee in the house?

Dahlia with her foster now:

Dahlia will need two procedures, dental and then her bladder stones. Her teeth are so bad the doctor knows surgery will take a long time, and so he does not want to do both procedures at the same time. This fundraiser is for her teeth, which are the most urgent issue. The doctor has given her medication and a special diet to mitigate the stones for now and that will have to wait. Her mouth is really a mess! Very painful, and the infection is dangerous and could spread to her heart.

All donations are for Dahlia to get this first, urgent surgery and the estimate is below, you can click to enlarge it:
