Broken leg, protruding bone!

Stray, he was hit by a car and has a badly broken right leg, with bone partially protruding through the skin.

A nice woman found him late on Monday the 25th of August, by the side of the road. She brought him to Blue Ridge Plaza Animal Clinic near Kansas City, Missouri the next day. There she paid for all his initial examinations and care. Both bones in the leg, the tibia and the fibula are broken, so the leg will not heal without surgery, also there is damage to his pelvis and he needs surgery on his femur.

Unfortunately the lady who found him decided the case was too much for her to deal with, and called the vet this week and said it would be best to put him to sleep. But the staff at the clinic say he is only about one year old, and a very sweet kitty as well. They want to get him fixed up, and then find a home for him!

Fortunately he is already neutered, as he has a tipped ear, a sign that he was in a TNR (trap neuter release) program at some time in the past. He is not feral, and is in fact very friendly, especially when you consider his painful condition!

Currently he is on pain management and antibiotics for the infection in his leg. He needs two expensive procedures: a pin in his leg to hold the bones together, and an FHO on his femur where part of the bone is precisely removed so it can fit into the pelvis correctly again.

All donations are specifically for Crash, for his orthopedic surgery. The vet clinic has committed to his care and boarding post surgery, and they will seek a home for him. They have also promised that he can stay there until adopted or one of their staff will adopted him.
