About the Campaign

I hurt my leg in my new home!

Cositias is just under a year-old, Chihuahua mix. Her mom Maria was homeless, but recently got into a program that first put her up in a motel, and then move her to a small studio apartment.
The apartment is all hard floors, concrete, and Cositias probably hurt her leg jumping off the bed onto the hard floor, as the previous place they stayed was carpeted.

You can see her limp in this video

(It is a bit long, but pretty clear past 20 seconds)

Maria took her to a free clinic to get booster shots, and asked them about the leg. They do not do exams there, but gave her a rough guess of about $1000.00. It is hard to know right now, because Cositias has not even had an x-ray, but in our experience this is a reasonable guess. It does not look like her leg is broken, but there is something wrong, and it is not just a sprain, because it is not going away over a number of days now.

Maria got Cositias as a puppy in August of last year, people were giving away a litter of puppies. She has cared for her properly, and gotten her shots and boosters, but Maria currently makes her pocket money collecting recycling, and saving up over $1000 doing that is a long and difficult task.

We have a couple of lower cost vets in Maria’s area (Anaheim, California), but we know Cositias needs x-rays, possible sedation, and an exam. Then there will be whatever treatment is necessary.

Free Animal Doctor always pays only the veterinarian. We hold the donations and only pay the vet, never the owner. All donations here are only for Cositias, not a general fund for other animals as well. When you donate to Cositias here, your donation is for Cositias and will be paid for her medical care only! Thank you!

I understand how hard it is to see your baby in pain and not be able to afford help. I hope she gets all the help that she needs.
