About the Campaign
A Painful Growth
Cody, a 14-year-old Maltese who weighs just 7 pounds, has developed a growing mass on his belly. What started years ago as a small bump has slowly gotten larger, and now Cody needs surgery to remove it before it causes more discomfort or complications. His biopsy confirmed the growth is non-cancerous—but it continues to enlarge, and at his age, waiting too long could make things worse.
His owner, Sarah, lives on just $1,000 a month from Social Security. She’s 68, retired, and struggling to keep up with rent and bills despite housing assistance and SNAP benefits. Sarah also faces medical challenges of her own—she was recently attacked by a stranger, suffering neurological injuries, tendon and ligament damage, and a traumatic brain injury. Doctors have told her not to drive, making things even harder.
Still, through all of this, she’s done everything she can for Cody.
Sarah adopted Cody about four years ago after seeing a Facebook post that he needed a home. His previous owners said he was “angry” and jealous of their new baby, but with patience and love, Sarah transformed him. “He was an absolute jerk at first,” she laughs. “All he did was bark.” But she started cooking for him, earning his trust—and his heart. Now Cody’s her loyal little shadow, happiest when chasing his beloved ball.
Cody’s surgery is estimated to cost up to $2300, and Sarah simply doesn’t have the means to cover it. She’s done everything right—taking him to multiple vets, getting the biopsy, following up on care—but she needs help with this final step.
Your donation will go directly toward Cody’s surgery, all funds are paid only to the veterinarian. Estimate is below, click to enlarge:

One of my Borzoi had something similar. I was able to zap it.
