About the Campaign

He’s just a puppy,

and lost his owner!

Chopper is just 8 months old, but a very good boy. Except for one thing, he’s trying to hump his new house-mate Luna, an adult female pitt-bull mix. He needs to get neutered ASAP!

Luna at the side of the pic, looking annoyed 🙂

It’s a unique and shocking story, earlier in March Chopper’s owner went to Costa Rico with family for a festival. On that trip he was murdered during a robbery. You can read a news story about it HERE. The father of the murdered young man has taken Chopper in, but is dealing with many financial and personal issues right now.

Chopper is healthy except for cherry-eye in both eyes, probably a condition he has had from birth. The plan is to get him neutered and get the eyes fixed at one time, so he only needs to undergo one surgery. Chopper is pure-bred and from a reputable breeder and bloodline, so probably was not neutered with the intention to breed him at some point. But Dad,Carmelo Davila, is not interested in that. Carmelo just wants Chopper to have a good home, and to leave poor Luna alone!

Cherry eye surgery is not recommend if the dog is too young, but Chopper is right at a good age for it now. Without surgery he will develop chronic, irreversible eye problems like chronic dry eye, and worse: scratched corneas. Since Carmelo wants him neutered, and that is kind of urgent, now is the time to fix Chopper up 100%.

All donations here are just for Chopper and his surgery, and will be paid by us directly to the veterinarian when the procedure is performed. You are donating right to Chopper. We are really hoping we can get this done for the Davila family soon. They have obviously been through (and are still going through) a lot, and it is great that they are taking Chopper in and keeping him in the family! The estimate is below, tap to enlarge:

Please take care of his cherry eyes. As you said, left untreated will cause him many additional problems. Not good.
God Bless dad who took him and sincere condolences on the loss of your son….🙏🙏
