About the Campaign
Pain Relief and Surgery Needed
Chief, a 9-year-old Rottweiler, has been Hailey and Van’s loyal companion ever since they rescued him from an unsafe situation nine years ago. Van spotted Chief outside a Walmart with a homeless man who couldn’t care for him, and in a spur-of-the-moment decision, brought him home to give him the love and security he deserved.
Now in his senior years, Chief is facing health struggles. Over the summer, he began yelping in pain when walking, getting up, or even climbing off the couch. Once an active dog who loved parks and car rides, he now prefers to stay curled in a corner, his discomfort keeping him from enjoying life. The vet believes the pain may come from hip dysplasia or another condition in his hind legs, and X-rays are urgently needed to find out.
On top of this, Chief has a small cyst on his stomach. A cytology test revealed possibly cancerous cells. While Chief is under anesthesia for surgery to remove the cyst, the vet has also recommended chest X-rays to check for any spread of cancer. Blood work is also scheduled to monitor his ability to stay on carprofen, the pain medication that helps him get through the day.
Hailey and Van have done everything possible to give Chief the best life, even through their own financial struggles. They’ve covered past emergencies, including $1,000 just last year. But right now, with Van between jobs and Hailey only receiving a small per diem while in training for her new job, the costs have become overwhelming.
Your donation will help cover Chief’s blood work, X-rays, and surgery so that he can get pain relief and have a chance at many more good days with the people who love him. All donations are held by us and paid directly to the veterinarian. Estimate below, click to enlarge:

Hi Amy, thank you for your donation to our dog, Chief. Every little bit helped us greatly. He had a successful surgery on the 22nd. The cyst was removed with a large portion of skin around and beneath it to reduce any chance of cancerous cells being left in his body. It is now being analyzed at a lab. Our vet also shared with us that his chest Xrays do not appear to have shown spread of cancer to his chest! However, they will reviewed by a specialist for a more complete look. We are so grateful to have completed his surgery and for the so far-so-god news. He is at home resting and doing really well in his healing. Thank you for your support during this difficult time it means the world to us!

I hope my donation, added to all the others, gets Chief the medical care he needs.

Hi there, thank you for your donation to our dog, Chief. Every little bit helped us greatly. He had a successful surgery on the 22nd and is now at home resting. So far there are no signs of cancer spread to his chest and we are awaiting results from the analyst of the cyst. Thank you supporting us during this difficult time!
