About the Campaign

Found stray,

owners abandoned him!

Chestnut is sick. Something is wrong with his bowel or tummy. It is painful for him to poop and he struggles.

Nia found him stray at the end of February. She delivers food and saw him on the side of a busy road, dirty and scared. Originally Nia figured he must have a home, she would find his owners. Well, she did. It took over two months though, but she was able to track them down.

The kicker? They told her that Chestnut gets out all the time, and they don’t care. He always comes home. Then they stopped answering the phone, or texts. They just disappeared! Finally Nia applied to have the microchip re-assigned to her, and the owners did approve that through the chip company, but Nia and Chestnut never heard from them again.

In late March Chestnut had blood in his poop. The ER diagnosed him with Perineal Hernias (internal hernia in the rectum). But Nia did not have the money for further testing or the surgery. Later she took him to a clinic, and they diagnosed him with worms. She did get medication and treatment there, but Chestnut did not get better.

Now he is even worse. Recently he is really acting poorly and is clearly in pain. He also threw up the other day, which may or not be related. We need to get him in for x-rays, and other tests. Then, possibly surgery, if it is hernias (this was never definitively diagnosed). Nia delivers for Uber Eats, and works 7 days a week, but doesn’t make much money. She and Chestnut need our help. We have a vet for him to do to that is very good at diagnostics, let’s get Chestnut in there!!

I’ve met Chestnut and he is just the sweetest, happiest, most energetic dog. He loves to play and he loves hugs. It really hurts my heart when he is squealing in pain trying to pass stool. I’ve helped Nia with some of Chestnut’s bills and I hope others can help so that we can get this poor boy the help that he really needs.

I’ve helped Nia with some of Chestnut’s vet bills in the past few months and I hope others could join in so we can get this sweet boy the help he needs.
