About the Campaign
Charlie Brown is a 12-year-old dog who already had the specialized heart procedure his last fundraiser was for. He received a TEER style repair (a clamp placed on the valve), and the results have been remarkable: his valve leakage improved from about 63% down to 5%, and he no longer even needs heart medication. Most importantly, he has not passed out since the surgery.
Now Charlie needs the next, very important step: his 12-month post-op checkup. He has already completed the 3, 6, and 9-month rechecks, and the next one is due at the end of June. The visit is about $550 to $600, and it is how the cardiology team confirms the repair is still stable and Charlie is truly in the clear.
Ceara has already done the impossible to save him. She ended up spending about $15,300 total out of pocket and on credit to get Charlie through surgery and follow-up care. Each recheck has been around $550, and she just paid about $300 for bloodwork, plus senior-panel bloodwork for another dog in the home.
The reason Ceara is asking for help now is simple: she is out of cash and out of credit. She is also caring for her father after he recently had a stroke, while continuing to work as a travel agent. She has already sold what she could, raised money wherever she could, and poured everything she had into giving Charlie this second chance.
This fundraiser is for one clear goal: cover Charlie’s 12-month cardiology checkup so the surgery success is protected and his recovery stays on track. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian. It is an amazing story of a dedicated owner and a cutting edge procedure that is only available a couple of doctors in the entire world! In honor of Gigi who had heart surgery and had mitral valve repair in england . Free animal doctor helped my baby get this surgery. Forever grateful to them and the amazing team. They save lives daily and are true angels. I lost her 24 hours after a successful heart surgery. I know how hard this is for your baby and am so happy to hear the procedure was successful. God bless you and your precious Charlie Brown may you get an extraordinary amount of years together from a fellow heart mom.
