They said he was healthy,

he just needs a home!

But Casper was not healthy, he has some serious issues. 

Casper is a 14 year-old poodle who was brought into Baldwin Park animal shelter in the Los Angeles area December of last year. By the Summer the shelter decided that if he was not adopted soon, they would have to put Casper to sleep.

Someone who was adopting another dog heard Casper’s story and took him too, but then started looking for a rescue to take him. They said they could not keep him. Soul2Soul Rescue in Oregon heard about Casper’s case and offered to help as they had some potential adopters who will take senior small dogs and poodle types.

Casper was “perfectly healthy”, nothing was wrong… so went the report. But the truth was different. When Casper showed up in Oregon his breath was terrible. Right away everyone could tell he would need dental surgery. But also, he had a swollen eye, which had not been in the photographs. Turns out there is a cut on his eyelid that needs to be fixed surgically as well!

The doctor says the teeth are really bad and threatening his overall health. Also, the eyelid is scratching the eye and irritating it, and could even lead to blindness! On top of all of it, Casper is an older gentleman, and needs a full blood test and careful monitoring for surgery. All of it expenses the rescue was not prepared for.
