Tumor on his spleen!

Carhartt has been part of Dana’s family since he was just a puppy, a special gift for her son’s birthday in July of 2016. Over the years, he’s been Dana’s steadfast buddy at work, whether charming visitors at a pet shop, assisting in dog training, or even helping veterinary tech students with their studies.

Remarkably healthy throughout his eight years, Carhartt has never shown any signs of illness. But in October, a routine ultrasound during Vet Tech Appreciation Month uncovered an unexpected concern: a small mass on his spleen. Though currently symptom-free, spleen masses in Corgis are often aggressive. Dana, who tragically lost another Corgi to a similar issue, is determined to act swiftly to keep Carhartt healthy and avoid any risk of complications.

Thanks to her role as a vet tech, Dana received a discounted estimate for Carhartt’s surgery, totaling $1,000 instead of the usual $2,000. This includes a splenectomy and chest X-rays to ensure his health remains in the clear. A great price!! However, this year has been financially challenging for Dana, a single mom to two kids. After taking two months off for a knee replacement, she’s been working hard to catch up but still finds herself stretched thin.

Dana wants to do everything possible for Carhartt, just as he’s always been there for her at work and at home.
