About the Campaign
Operable Bone Cancer,
Buddy can live many more years!
A few months ago, Buddy started limping after a routine grooming appointment. At first, his owner Adam thought the groomer had hurt him, but when the limp didn’t improve, the vet started looking deeper. X-rays showed nothing alarming at first—just mild arthritis. But then Buddy developed a hotspot from licking his paw, and soon after, Adam noticed he was breathing heavily. Another set of X-rays revealed a mass.
Buddy, an 8-year-old Goldendoodle, was meant to be Adam’s dog. When Adam’s mom, Lainey, worked at a mental hospital in Michigan, Buddy was a therapy dog. But he struggled around patients with schizophrenia, and the hospital planned to send him to a shelter. Lainey took him home instead. Adam and Buddy became inseparable, and it was soon clear Buddy belonged with Adam, and Lainey made it official, bringing him to his forever home.
For months, every vet Adam saw thought Buddy had lung cancer. He was told to keep Buddy comfortable and prepare for hospice. But Adam wasn’t ready to give up. After a CT scan—funded by a GoFundMe—he got the real answer: Buddy doesn’t have lung cancer! The tumor is in his rib, and with surgery to remove two ribs, he could have four more years. Without it, he only has a few months.
Adam has spent everything he has trying to help Buddy—$4,000 to $5,000 since July. He’s a gig worker, just started a new job in extermination, and is facing major life changes, including needing to move soon. But Buddy still has good days—days full of energy and love. Adam knows Buddy isn’t ready to go yet, and he’s determined to give him every chance possible.
Your donation will help cover Buddy’s surgery so he can keep enjoying the life he was meant to have. All donations go directly to the vet for Buddy’s care. Please help Adam and Buddy get through this together, estimate below, you can click to enlarge:

My dog, Gracie, and I met Adam and Buddy at a dog park. Immediately, Buddy and Gracie became “besties”. Since Buddy has become ill, Gracie hasn’t been able to run around and play with him. It is encouraging news that Buddy’s life can be saved. I hope and pray Buddy will be able to get the surgery he desperately needs and enjoy a full recovery and be able to make many more years of treasured memories with Adam and family. I know Gracie will love to see her “Buddy” again and me too.
