About the Campaign
Bruno is a 4-month-old Pug puppy who weighs only about 6 pounds, and he has broken his elbow. This is a serious place for a puppy to break a bone, because elbow fractures often cannot heal correctly without orthopedic surgery.
Madison took Bruno to the vet right away after her mother came home and found him crying. No one saw exactly what happened, but the family thinks he may have jumped off the couch while Madison was at work. The first vet told them Bruno’s surgery needs to happen quickly, within about two weeks, to give him the best chance to heal properly.
The good news is that Madison has found a low-cost option with a subsidy, bringing the surgery down to $2,500. That is much less than the usual cost for this kind of orthopedic repair, but it is still more than Madison can afford on her own.
Bruno came into Madison’s life as a rescue. She found him wandering around her apartment complex in the middle of the night when he was only about 6 weeks old. He was scared, but he did not run from her. She brought him in, fed him, took him to the vet, found out he had no microchip, and has cared for him ever since.
The cost is the barrier. Madison is a single mother to her 3-year-old daughter, Leilani, and works as a cashier at Food4Less. She is barely getting by month to month. Last month, her car broke down when the engine coolant fan failed, and she had to spend her entire vacation bonus on the repair just to keep transportation.
Bruno is still just a baby, and this injury can affect the rest of his life if it is not repaired correctly. Donations will help cover his elbow surgery, anesthesia, pain medication, follow-up visits, and recovery care so this tiny puppy can heal and grow up able to use his leg. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian. Surgery is pretty urgent in this case, the estimate is below (click to enlarge):
