About the Campaign

Save My Arm Please? I’m just a child!

Brownie broke her arm in the worst place, and only complex surgery can possibly save it.

Poor Brownie was stuck in the South LA Animal Shelter. The staff and volunteers there were great with her, but still, it’s the shelter… she wants a home, friends and open places to run!! Watch her in this video from the shelter:

It’s hard to get adopted with a broken arm.

Brownie was brought in to the shelter as a stray, putting no weight on her front right leg. She spent a lot of time at the shelter, and the people there exercised her and socialized with her, but she just wasn’t getting adopted.

It’s worse with this type of break.

X-rays revealed some bad news, Brownie has a break right at the elbow in the worst possible location. The break will never heal on its own, even with a full caste. The only solution is surgery, and it is a difficult procedure that needs to be done by an orthopedic specialist. You can see the location here in the x-ray, and how the tricep muscle always pulls the break apart (click to enlarge):

We arranged for her to visit Dr. Fiona Little at Pasadena Veterinary Specialists, and Dr. Little explains  the complexities of this break and the surgery in the video here:

You can help Brownie keep her arm!

This procedure is not cheap. Surgery alone is $3000-$4000, and there are lots of follow-ups. Brownie needs a medical foster, and 8 weeks (or so) of “cage rest”. It’s an expensive and long journey… but if we can get it done for her, she can keep her arm! And she is so young, just about 1 year-old, it would be so sad if she had to have an amputation.

All donations are for Brownie specifically and go to her bill at Pasadena Veterinary Specialists! Donations are tax deductible! Can you help Brownie today? WOOOOOOOF!!!
