About the Campaign
Needs Life-Saving Surgery
Bolt, a spirited 5-year-old cat, has been Jenna’s steadfast companion through thick and thin. Born into a challenging start as part of a feral cat colony, Bolt was one of five kittens Jenna bottle-fed after rescuing them in 2018.
Baby Bolt!
Despite his being a handful as a kitten, Bolt stole Jenna’s heart, and they’ve been inseparable ever since. Now, he urgently needs surgery to remove gallbladder stones, a condition causing pancreatitis and affecting his liver.
Bolt and Jenna today:
This all began during a routine vet visit on October 26. Jenna noticed Bolt seemed lethargic, so she took him in to be checked. A heart murmur was detected, leading to more tests that revealed Bolt’s challenges: stage 1b heart disease, severe scoliosis, and high liver values caused by gallbladder stones. These stones have caused Bolt serious discomfort and inflammation, making surgery essential to his recovery.
Bolt’s scoliosis is being managed with a new trial medication, a monthly injection costing $95, but his gallbladder condition requires immediate surgical intervention. The consultation alone has already cost Jenna $950, and the estimated cost of the surgery is $4,000.
Jenna, a single mom of two, works part-time as a pet sitter and relies on government assistance to make ends meet. She has already spent $1,400 on Bolt’s care, using credit and payment plans to cover the expenses. As someone who has dedicated herself to rescuing and caring for animals—including a large feral colony in Pomona—Jenna has always put others, human and feline alike, before herself. Now, she’s asking for help to save Bolt.
How You Can Help
Your donation will go directly toward Bolt’s surgery and recovery. All donations are specifically for Bolt, paid only to his vet and are tax deductible. Even a small contribution can make a big difference. Together, we can ensure Bolt gets the care he needs and deserves. We will have a detailed estimate on Nov 27th from a specialist and post it here then.
