Torn up CCL in her knee.

Blizzard, a 9-year-old Chiweenie (Chihuahua–Dachshund mix), tore the cruciate ligament (CCL) in her back left leg after a bad landing during playtime. Since then, she’s been limping, unable to keep up with her pack, and getting depressed because she can’t run and jump the way she loves to. Surgery is the only option to restore her mobility and let her live without pain.

Andrea noticed the injury right away and brought her to the vet. Despite the pain, Blizzard still tries to play, but she can’t go for long before her leg gives out. She desperately needs surgery to repair her knee and give her quality of life back.

Andrea has given Blizzard the loving home she deserves. A lady passed away from cancer, leaving behind 20 dogs! Her family kept some and got others adopted, but no one wanted Blizzard because she was older. In Andrea’s home for a little more than a year now, Blizzard is just the most precious, sassy little dog! She loves playing and running around, or at least she used to…

But now Andrea is struggling as well. She’s a disabled part-time caregiver for veterans, with her hours cut back. She’s battled her own serious health issues, including spinal surgery and ongoing mobility problems, and she’s doing everything she can just to keep up with bills and dog food. She even raised $500 through a Facebook auction but can’t cover the full cost of Blizzard’s surgery.
