About the Campaign

Most Recent Update, August 26th, 9:00PM
GREAT NEWS because of Miranda’s People:

We are very lucky to partner with Miranda’s People, a non-profit helping dog’s with cancer!

Max has been receiving donations at a good rate, but his tumor has suddenly gotten worse, and he has started biting at it causing complications and additional veterinary expenses. Although we had raised $800.00 at Free Animal Doctor from 23 AMAZING donors, and his owner David had reserved his entire paycheck, we were still significantly short of the funds needed.

Receipt of our payment, PDF FILE HERE: Receipt

Miranda’s People reviewed Max’s case, and recent changes to his medical condition and has made a FULL GRANT to cover ALL MAX’S COSTS ABOVE WHAT WE HAVE RAISED SO FAR!

Max will have his surgery immediately, Tuesday August 27th. Updates to come. Please keep Max in your thoughts! You can follow Miranda’s People on Facebook here:

Huge tumor on his penis

Swelling to where he has trouble peeing

Max needs this tumor removed as soon as possible. His owner has gotten him treatment and testing up to now, but the surgery requires a specialist and is expensive.

What is needed

Dr Simon at California Veterinary Specialists will remove the penis, but provide a way for Max to still pee normally, he will not be incontinent. The surgery sounds more extreme than it is. We have consulted with the doctor ourselves and he assures us he is confident that the procedure will be positive for Max, and recovery time should be fairly normal, about two weeks. Max should be able to live pretty much normally after the surgery.

What is it?

It looks terrible, and is probably cancer. Because the surgery is urgent, and because whether or not it is cancer the tumor has to be removed, the owner, David, has decided the best thing for Max is just to get it removed first, then we can do a biopsy and other tests if there is enough funding. The doctor agrees with this as well.

Warning, some graphic photos below

Recently Max started to chew at the tumor. This is normal behavior, but a problem! The tumor is of course full of blood, and as you can imagine, and this also greatly increases the chance of infection and other complications.

More importantly this sudden chewing indicates that the tumor is clearly painful for Max! We need to get this tumor removed soon!!

Procedure cost and funding

All donations here are for Max only, and will also only be paid to the vet for this procedure. David has spent most of his money getting this far with Max, though he is able to contribute some, and he has gotten family to provide over $1000.00 as well.

Unfortunately, as you can see in the estimate, this procedure will probably cost over $4000.00… and if we do the biopsy and other tests, cost will only go up as well. For now we are hoping to raise about $3000.00 to go with the money the David has already got committed to Max.

Can you help Max today?! He really needs it, poor guy! Thank you 🙂
