About the Campaign
Shelter did not treat properly and now Benny must have surgery!
His adopter has gotten the shelter to agree to pay half the cost!
What happened:
Benny was in the animal shelter in North Scituate, Rhode Island, where they were treating his symptoms of a chronic ear infection, but not the infection itself. Corinna fostered him for the shelter, and kept asking about this, but they continued only with treatment for the symptoms. Finally Corinna adopted Benny, and then was able to take him to another vet (the foster agreement requires that she only use the shelter’s veterinarian).
Corinna got two opinions, both which agreed: Benny’s chronic infection needed to be treated with surgery, and the condition had gotten worse because it had been allow to go on so long!
What Benny needs:
Benny needs surgery to remove the scar tissue inside his ears. This will both help him hear again, but also end the chronic and repeated infections. Unfortunately, the dog ear is rather complicated, so this surgery is not easy or cheap.
The good news:
The shelter has agreed to pay for half the cost of the surgery! The total estimate is about $3000, so the shelter will pay $1500. The Corinna with a bill of $1500, after she has already spent money getting him this far. She has recently had to have gall-bladder surgery herself, and does not have the available money to pay $1500 for Benny.
How you can help today:
Please share Benny’s case and donate! All donations will only be paid to her vet directly, not to Corinna, Companion Veterinary Health Center, in Dayville CT.

I feel sorry for the dog. At least he has a permanent home with sone who cares and it trying to help him. Not sure if total cost of surgery is $3000 or $1500 since shelter is paying 1/2. He looks like a dog I had.

It’s sad that the shelter and the first vet did not treat Benny properly, which made his condition worse. He is a such a doll and needs help.
