About the Campaign
Yikes! Big swollen mouth.
Poor Bella, she woke up Thursday (11/7) with a swollen mouth. At first her owner Shannon thought it was a bug bite or sting of some sort! Took her to the vet, and no, it is a terrible abscess in her mouth that is swelling out, you can see here:
It cost $400, maxing out Shannon’s Care Credit, but Bella got temporary treatment including antibiotics. This will reduce the swelling and the pain, but only for a short time. Bella has a dental infection, and needs teeth removed, there’s no way around it.
Bella is a rescue dog of sorts, about eight years ago Shannon and her daughter were driving home and they saw Bella running down the street. She had a collar, but clearly looked lost, in that nervous way dogs can be out running around. They followed her, and then managed with considerable patience to finally get her in their car. The collar had no tags or any identifiers on it, but they figured she must have a home.
Well, it turns out Bella kind of had a home. See, Shannon and her daughter put flyers out everywhere, posted online, all that, and a month went by with no responses. Then one day her daughter called her while out walking Bella: “Mom, a guy driving by just stopped and said that Bella is his dog!”
Whattchya talkin’ about?
Shannon rushed out there, obviously, and sure enough it was true. The guy was nice, and Bella clearly knew him. He explained that Bella was his, and about a month ago, sure enough, she had gotten out of the house and run off. But he didn’t want her back. In fact he said that after she ran off he didn’t look for her, or check online or around the neighborhood for flyers or anything. Said he could really care for a dog, didn’t have the money or time. Would Shannon keep Bella? And so, yes, Shannon did!
Comfy it her real home!
Chloe is Shannon’s other dog, and Chloe is 15 with health issues. She has regular medications, and prescription food. This has cost a lot of money recently, and Shannon’s Care Credit account is maxed out from that and Bella’s emergency visit. All donations here are specifically and only for Bella, to get her the dental surgery she needs. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian, the estimate is below, click to enlarge:

We recently went through a similar situation with our little dog Ella and she needed about half her teeth removed. I hope this helps ease the financial burden if even just a little bit. Sending good thoughts and prayers your way for the surgery!
