Her eye can be saved!

Bella has a corneal sequestrum, an eye condition unique to cats where the pigment changes on the eye and dead cells spread. It can be treated with surgery, but with out surgery she will go blind. Read more about it HERE.

Bella is a rescue, Lisa found her in a neighbor’s driveway about two years ago, a stray, lonely kitten. Bella has probably had the underlying condition for her current problem since a kitten. When Lisa first found her she had an eye infection, and had to be treated at the vet.

About a month ago Bella’s eye seemed to be runny, and then a little spot appeared. First she went to her regular vet, who then referred Bella out to a specialist, and this is where the feline corneal sequestrum diagnosis comes from. Though eye drops can provide some comfort, they will not stop the spread of the infection. The only solution to this is surgery, which has a high success rate, or eventual blindness and removal of the eye.
