About the Campaign
Just 6 months old
Bella-Bell jumped out of the car at a stop-light!
Ok, it was a mistake! Her owner had no idea it could happen, and little Bella is just a puppy and didn’t know any better. When stopped at light, Norma let her little dog on her lap, and suddenly she just jumped out the window!
Poor little Bella-Bell started yelping, and was obviously hurt. She is just 4 pounds and it was quite a fall. Norma rushed to the ER vet and they stabilized Bella’s leg, did x-rays and and ultra-sound, and got her on medications.
Norma managed to pay for that, and also got a little bit of Care Credit (just $200 for a $1300+ bill). The ER vet told Norma it would be expensive to do the surgery and she got an estimate that was over $7000. She reached out to some rescues for help, including Fix N’ Fidos, who put her in touch with us.
We referred Norma to a vet we know, and in the end she got an estimate for $3500. Bella’s fracture is in her femur (the big leg bone) just above the knee. The doctor says it will require 3 pins, 2 on the side and one in the middle, to stabilize and hold the bone so it can heal.
Norma and her family have a small cleaning business that has basically been out of work with the COVID epidemic in LA county. In addition, both Norma and her husband contracted COVID, and have not been able to do any work for a while, though they are now recovered and doing a few jobs that come in.
Bella-Bell was given to Norma as a gift last October by a friend. And Norma is not that experienced in having a dog, and a puppy! The bottom line is that little Bella-Bell needs this surgery to save her leg and to heal. This injury will not heal with out surgery, so she either needs the procedure or amputation. Let’s help Bella-Bell save her leg and get the surgery she needs!!
