About the Campaign
Bear cannot stand up!
But he still gets into trouble π
A couple of weeks ago Bear took off chasing a squirrel. In the woods his owner Wanda hear a loud YELP! and went in to find Bear lying on the ground whimpering.
Long story short: Bear had torn his knee up. They had to carry him back in the house, and Bear weighs 165 pounds! He then went to the vet and x-rays showed the damage. Bear needs what is called TPLO surgery to fix his knee (read about it here).
The other issue is that Bear may have damaged his other knee now, because of his weight and size. All of that weight on one good leg is bad. Wanda has tried to keep Bear still, but as you can see in the photo below, it is hard. He is a high energy dog, and doesn’t understand.
He is on pain killers, but that makes him want to try and move around. So he also has tranquilizers, but it takes a lot to calm him down and no one wants to drug this poor boy too much. Good news: his surgery is scheduled for November 1st. But Wanda has already spent over $2000 on him and only has about $1000 of credit left, so Bear needs our help to get his bill covered so he can have surgery right away!
All donations are only for Bear, who is still young (he just turned 6 years old). Donations are paid only to the vet, when surgery is done. Vet estimate below, click to enlarge:

Sending up prayers that sweet Bear gets the surgery he needs ASAP, and has a full recovery. I had a Newfie 50 years ago and he was the biggest teddy bear, lap dog ever! Newfoundlands are truly goofy, lovable gentle giants. Big hugs!
