About the Campaign

Cancer in his wrist

Baxter has cancer, but it has not spread. The doctor wants to amputate below his elbow, urgently, to stop the cancer right away.

Jared got Baxter as a little puppy eight years ago, and Baxter is just the best boy! He lives in Maine, and loves being active, playing fetch, running in the wilds and just being the best dog ever!

In late November he started limping. Baxter is getting a little older, and he does like to run around a lot, so everyone figured it was just a sprain or something like that, and it would go away. But it didn’t. Two weeks ago Jared took him to the vet, and they suspected something serious. Some tests and x-rays later, and the results were in.

There is no sign the cancer has spread outside of the wrist, so the doctor recommends amputation, and gives Baxter a good prognosis, if it is done soon.

Jared has set up a fundraiser on GoFundMe, and some friends have helped out, and he has a bit of money, but it is a bad time of year for this urgent surgery. Jared’s work shellfishing is seasonal, and there is no work in the winter. With what they have available Baxter still needs a bit over $1000 to get the procedure, and it is urgent. All donations here are just for Baxter, and we only pay the vet! Please see the estimate below (you can click it to enlarge):

Donated in memory of my boxer mix Lulu who survived osteosarcoma with amputation and chemo for 2 1/2 years and passed at 13 years old from other causes with no evidence that the osteosarcoma came back. Praying for you Baxter! 🙏🏼

I wish I could pay for all Baxter’s surgeries and bring him home and give him all the love he needs! He looks very sad…maybe it’s just all pain-related but he looks like he wasn’t treated very well. I hope I’m wrong.
I’m 70 years old and disabled and have a lot of illnesses that would prevent me from having a dog that big (but I sure wish I could give him a big hug after he’s feeling better!!) Can you please give me updates on him and I’ll try to donate more later!!♥️🐕♥️ Please give him a kiss and a hug for me!

Thank you for your kind words. Baxter is very well taken care of. He’s a big, happy baby boy. He has a lot of very animated expressions ♥️
