About the Campaign
Banshee is a 5-year-old female DSH cat who has been diagnosed with a large bladder stone that now requires surgical removal. Her veterinarian has explained that the stone is too big to manage with medication or diet changes alone, and waiting can lead to painful blockage, infection, and emergency complications. The plan is surgery, plus additional testing because her bloodwork showed elevated calcium levels, which can affect treatment decisions and long-term prevention.
Banshee’s family first realized something was wrong when she began peeing outside the litter box around the house. They initially thought it might be related to another sick pet in the home, but when the behavior continued, they brought Banshee in and the vet discovered the stone on X-ray. A bladder stone this large has to come out, and once removed, the vet can guide the best plan to prevent it from happening again.
Banshee has been with Heather and her family since the beginning. They rescued Banshee’s mom from a bar parking lot, and soon after Banshee was born at home along with her littermates. Homes were found for the rest of the litter, but Banshee stayed and became a core part of the family. Heather describes her as the cat with the biggest personality in the house, the “spokesperson” who makes sure the humans hear about it anytime another pet needs attention, dinner, or treats.
The challenge is cost, especially for a household that already takes care of multiple animals. Heather and her partner have five indoor cats, two outdoor cats, and two dogs, and the last year has brought several medical issues across the group. They are doing everything they can, but vet bills have piled up fast, leaving little room for a sudden surgical emergency.
This fundraiser is to help cover Banshee’s bladder stone removal surgery, the recommended follow-up testing related to her elevated calcium, and the care she needs to recover safely so she can get back to being the bossy, beloved “customer service manager” of the household.
