About the Campaign
How does an abused dog
remain so kind and happy?!
Animal control in San Bernardino, CA picked up Bandit in November and took him to the shelter. Both of his ears had been cut off, and he had scars, both old and new, all indications of dog fighting. But he was a happy dog, doing well with people and other dogs.
Animal control photos:
Bandit did not get adopted, and was going to be put-to-sleep so the rescue Healing Hounds took him. He went to a foster home in December, and that is when something showed up. His belly swelled up! The foster had noticed that he was dribbling pee, but thought at first maybe he was not house trained, but then his penis area started swelling.
Leaving the shelter:
A quick trip to the vet and some tests ruled out the normal stuff, like a urinary tract infection, or kidney stones. What Bandit had was trauma. His bladder is herniated, and internally he is swelling with pee, urine, and has trouble getting it out. It is painful, and life threatening.
The doctors were able to do a preliminary treatment, and he then went to a specialist in Upland, CA. He is now on mediations and strict “cage rest”, meaning he is confined to a cage so he doesn’t move. The doctors are even worried about him walking just to go eat an use the bathroom!
Poor Bandit! He is so sweet, he must have had a good home at one point. But he has clearly been abused recently, and the trauma is almost certainly from a hard kick to the stomach. Then he was in a cage at the shelter for nearly a month, and now he has to be in a cage again for his safety.
But we can fix all that! Healing Hounds has already raised $1000 on their Instagram account for the surgery, and paid another $1000 on his care up to now, but their fundraiser has stalled out and they need help to get this surgery done for Bandit! He is just 4 years-old and very well behaved, if this boy can get fixed up he is totally adoptable and can have a long, happy life! Let’s get him there. All donations are for Bandit and 100% of your donation goes to the rescue for his surgery.

Our personal PitBull was rescued from this shelter after police busted a dog fighting ring.
We appreciate rescues who rescue pitbulls especially from this shelter!
After this is handled, we wish Bandit a long happy life like we were able to do for our bait dog from this very shelter. Thank you HH!

I just wish I could help more and as many babies who need help. But unfortunately I can’t. Thank you for helping them and fight for them. It breaks my hurt to see so many abuse cases. I can’t not comprehend the cruelty.

I am so sorry bandit. After your surgery I would very much be interested in adopting you, I live in Seattle but would try to work out transport. And no one would EVER lay a finger on you again. I promise!

Hope he gets better soon. I can’t imagine a herniated bladder is pleasant.
