About the Campaign
Broken Leg, Emergency Surgery
Arnulfo, a one-and-a-half-year-old Labrador mix, is in urgent need of surgery. His front left leg is broken in two places—the radius and ulna—and the veterinarian has told his family he must have surgery by September 9th to heal properly. Without it, his leg may never recover.
Arnulfo’s story is heartbreaking. One night, he slipped out the gate while his family was busy working on the car and ran off with their other dogs. For a full week they searched tirelessly, posting fliers until they finally found him at Inland Valley Humane Society.
But when they picked him up, Arnulfo was already bandaged and injured. The person who reported him to the city said he had been hurt when they found him. His family rushed him back to the vet, where bandages were changed and X-rays confirmed the worst—his leg was broken in two places.
Arnulfo has been part of the family since he was born. Edith’s father raised his litter, and the family brought him home in April of last year. He quickly became a companion not only to their two other dogs, Spunky and Pudgy, but also to their children. Their son, Ellis, who is autistic, has especially bonded with Arnulfo, and the young Lab brings him comfort and joy. Sadly, Ellis has also just begun experiencing seizures this year, with an MRI scheduled at Children’s Hospital in October. The family is overwhelmed—trying to care for their son’s medical needs while also facing this emergency for Arnulfo.
Edith works as a caregiver, and Himmer works as a handyman and does embroidery. They’ve already had to put groceries on credit, and Care Credit was not an option, as they were declined. They cannot afford the surgery, but without it Arnulfo will suffer.
With surgery, Arnulfo’s prognosis is excellent—he’s young, strong, and full of life. Because both bones in his arm are broken, it neither can heal because there is no stability, surgery is required. All donations go directly to the veterinarian for Arnulfo’s care, paid only to the vet and only for him. You can view the estimate HERE.

I’m sorry I can’t give much, but I want to see Arnulfo healthy again so he can be his young master’s support pal with his Autism. This is so important. I’m sorry the family is struggling. I only wish I had more to give.

This family is already struggling and this is such a hardship. In times like this, families are overwhelmed with how to get their family pet’s needs met. Many donations can make their worry disappear💜
