About the Campaign
His legs are giving out!
Apollo is a 2-year-old male German Shepherd mix whose legs suddenly started giving out about a week ago. Faith is terrified something serious is going on, and the first step is clear: Apollo needs X-rays and initial veterinary diagnostics to identify the cause and determine what treatment he needs next.
Faith first noticed the problem when Apollo was roughhousing with the family’s other dog, Zeus. After that, she began seeing it during normal walking too—Apollo’s legs would buckle unexpectedly. With a young, large-breed dog, sudden weakness like this can point to multiple possibilities, and the only safe way forward is to get imaging and a vet exam as soon as possible.
Apollo isn’t “just the family dog.” He’s Faith’s dog—her responsibility from day one. Apollo was born in Faith’s home after her dad’s dog, Bella, had an accidental litter. Faith’s dad told her she could keep one puppy only if she could take care of everything herself. Faith chose Apollo because he stood out immediately and reminded her of Capone, the father dog, who passed away last year. Faith has since made sure Apollo is neutered and that the animals in the home are fixed, because she learned how quickly “accidents” can turn into long-term responsibility.
Faith is only 17 years old, and she’s already carrying a lot. She works at Taco Bell, and she also runs a cat rescue in Sweet Home, Oregon—putting her time, energy, and money into saving animals in a small town where resources are limited. She’s been able to borrow $600 from a friend to try to get Apollo help, but diagnostics and follow-up care can add up fast, and she doesn’t have access to credit or savings to cover this on her own.
Apollo has already survived a major battle once. As a puppy, he contracted parvo and nearly didn’t make it. Faith fought for him then, and she’s fighting for him now—because she refuses to ignore a problem that could take his mobility, or worse, if it isn’t treated quickly.
Donations will help cover Apollo’s X-rays and initial veterinary care so Faith can get answers and start the right treatment as soon as possible. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian.
