About the Campaign
Anne Marie came from a puppy mill. She was rescued after being there for years. Never socialized, it took the rescuers many months of behavior work to get her to be a “normal” dog, but like all dogs she wants to be with people, and they were able to get her behavior to where she now lives with a foster family.
More good news for Anne Marie is that the family now wants to adopt her. From a neglected life in a cage, to living with a family as it should be, Anne Marie has come a long way!
During this time the rescuers and their supporters have spent over $3000 on Anne Marie, but she was one significant health problem remaining. Anne Marie has horribly infected ears, which has led to the growth of polyps and cysts in the ears. Her hearing is almost gone, but she still suffers from constant infections, and the ears are now very painful and will only get worse.
She has seen an ear specialist, and the solution is ablation of the ear. Basically this is removal of a significant part of the inside of the ear, you can read more HERE. She now has recurring infections, she just finished a cycle of antibiotics, and the next day the infection was already back. Now she has to wear a donut all the time, because the pain causes her to scratch at her ears:
This procedure will leave her deaf, but she is nearly deaf already. Since it is internal, she will still have normal looking ears, but the terrible pain and recurring infections will be done with! The doctor is providing a substantial discount on the surgery, and Anne Marie’s supporters have some of the money available, but dog ears are quite complex to do surgery on, and the procedure is expected to take the entire day. So you can imagine, it is not cheap.
Depressed Anne Marie
The estimate below is for one ear, and she needs both ears done. All donations are specifically for Anne Marie and are only paid to the veterinarian, not individuals. Your donation will go to get Anne Marie the surgery she needs, hopefully as soon as next week!
