Broken Jaw!

This poor boy’s lower jaw is completely broken, you can see it swing in the video below:

A good samaritan, Ashley, saw him almost get hit by a car while crossing the road. He just stood in the middle of the street, so she stopped and tried to get him to go inside her car, but he ran off. She caught up to him and got the video of him on the sidewalk, in front of the fence.

Afraid he would run away again, she called her mother to come help. Mom and a man in the nearby park both helped to catch the dog, and they got him in a cage. Ashley then reached out for help from Faith Easdale, and all of them got in contact with us. The dog was immediately take to Ranch West Animal Hospital, August 8th.

At the vet

They named him Angel. He is only about 8 pounds, but should be double that. He was covered in ticks, and has mange on the back 1/2 of his body. The doctor needs to do surgery on his jaw urgently, obviously, but it has to wait a little bit. They need him free of ticks, and he needs a little time to recover from all the bites. She also is getting some food into him. He is in a bad way. Surgery may be August 9th or 10th, depending on how it goes.

What he needs

We know jaw surgery, with a plate, is necessary. He also needs 24 hour hospitalization for a while. We do not have a specific estimate yet, and will update this fundraiser when we do, but his bill will be at least $3000.00, and probably more.

All donations are for Angel and Faith Easdale, paid to Rancho West and any other specialty vet, as needed. As always, we verify every case, pay the vet, and 100% of your donation goes to the animal in need, we deduct no fee, not even a processing fee.

Update 8/9/2022

His enzyme levels for his major organs (liver, kidneys) are very elevated. This can indicate damage, but it could also be a reaction to so many tick bites, dehydration, etc… The doctor is working on getting his body “normal” before surgery. She says he will be hospitalized at least a week. Also, doctor says injury is probably not a car, but rather a direct strike. In other words, a person hit or kicked him in the mouth. 

Update 8/20/22

Thank you donors! Surgery scheduled!! He will have surgery on the 24th or 26th, depending on some factors. It is going to be pretty thorough, he will need TWO plates. The updated estimate is below, plus he has many weeks of boarding at the vet.
